My '02 Savage has an idle mixture screw on the right side (muffler side) of the carb, above and slightly forward of the float bowl. This should provide fine adjustment to fuel flow at idle. An adjustment screw at the rear of the carb would most likely be an air adjustment screw, which I don't have. A screw below the float bowl is a drain to remove water or contaminants from the bowl--a procedure to partake of, once or twice a year. Never know if a few gremlins might enter your tank and pass thru the tank strainer.
